Day of the Seafarer - 25 June 2020

leftArrow leftArrow

The Day of the Seafarer is an annual event, initiated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to recognise the unique role of seafarers in our global community. This Day salutes the vital contributions made by seafarers from all over the world to international seaborne trade, the world economy and society as a whole. It reinforces the message, "Seafarers are Key Workers".

As the world tries to continue operations in the new reality, we have all realised how quickly things we took for granted have changed. At Vroon, our seafarers form the cornerstone of the company’s operations, keeping our vessels operational and showing their resilience, often unsure when they will be able to travel home. For their colleagues ashore, delayed or uncertain employment can also bring insecurity.

Our 2019 Vroon24 Safety Day had Resilience as its theme (Together Everybody Achieves More (TEAM) Resilience). Being resilient has never been more important than now. While resilience is natural behaviour to cope with difficult situations, staying resilient can be hard. We all feel lonely or stressed at times and it is important to realise that we are in this situation together, coping as best we can with the different and changing challenges.

On the Day of the Seafarer, we acknowledge all our colleagues – at sea and ashore. We are proud to have you as part of Vroon and thank you for your hard work, dedication and resilience. Your safety and wellbeing really matter to us.

Let us all celebrate!

HAPPY DAY OF THE SEAFARER 2020!
